My Life

This project made me look at myself and my life in so many new ways.I had always heard things my mom had told me I was like growing up and just disregarded them. Now that we are looking at development and personality I realize all those things I did made me into who I am and helped in my development. The one thing I really started feeling while typing things about my childhood is that I may sound pretentious, because I was just a chill child, much like I am still today, but I promise I'm not, I know I'm no better than anyone else, and I wouldn't want to be.

Personality Assesment

Personality Assessments Personality types are some of the greatest things to learn about people. Typically, when I meet a new person I will ask them what there Myers-Briggs personality type is. I am an INFP , which I think is very fitting based on their summary of what this type is like, and how I would interact with other types. I decided to try another personality test, because I've taken the Myers-Briggs so many times before and got the same results, so I wanted to know how I ranked on other tests. I took the Big Five test, and let me just say some of the results didn’t seem right to me. The Big Five measures five broad types of your personality. The types can be remembered using the acronym O C E A N , O penness to Experience, C onsciousness, E xtraversion, A greeability, and N euroticism. Each of these five categories have 6 different facets to help break down and understand your personality better. My Personality Type The one that confused me the most was my score o...

Parenting and Attachment

There are four common parenting styles; permissive-neglectful, permissive-indulgent, authoritarian, and authoritative. I was raised in a pretty permissive-indulgent house hold. Permissive-indulgent is described as parents set few limits or demands, but are highly involved and emotionally connected. I would say I had more demands put upon on me then the description makes it sound like but I knew what was right and wrong, and that things had consequences so I based my decisions off that. My parents have always been super supportive and right behind me in any decision I have ever made. My childhood was very different from almost everyone I grew up around, the major factor was that I was an only child so my parents only had to worry about me, but at the same time it looked like they didn’t care what I chose to do. They wanted me to be able to experience everything I could, whether it was good or bad, they always said learn from your experiences. This came a lot from my parents both being ...

Effects of Music on the Brain

I was able to talk to one of my close friends Molly Cate , who was previously a Musical Theatre major, so she worked with music a lot. I knew she had had some issues with a concussion and having to relearn how to sing again, but I was unaware of all the actual effects it had had. She really felt like music was what saved her after that and was able to get her brain restarted and her memories back in order. Music has had a big impact on her life that she wasn't even aware it had had. I think its amazing how such a simple thing as music can have such an impact on the world, and everyone in it.

Sight and Percieving

Sight What is sight? Sight is one of our 6 senses; seeing, smelling, touching, tasting, hearing and proprioception.  Seeing initially is light passing through our cornea. The differences in the light effect what we see, it effects the color as well as the shape or form. Color  Depending what colors of lights are reflecting will determine what color we view something as. The primary colors of light are red , blue and green , these are different than the primary colors of pigment, which can be a challenging thing to understand. Based on how much red or blue is in an area we will see shades of red , blue and purple , if there is green and red in an area we will see those shades as well of yellow now, or usually more scientifically called amber .  If there is a problem in the receptors of light, then you are likely to not be able to see one of or two of these colors, typically green or red , this is where colorblindness comes from. Forms or Shapes Perceivi...

Sleep on the Brain

Sleep Fascination Sleep is one of the most interesting things about the body to me, but it is also the most confusing. How do are bodies just stop doing things(it's like we are dead, but we are still breathing), and then you wake back up and are fully functioning again? That's just really weird to me. I find sleep so interesting because I have so many different sleep issues that I have to deal with. Through the reading from this week I discovered some of the things I thought were happening in my sleep are really things and not just something I made myself believe. The more i keep reading about how sleep works and the ins and outs of different sleep disorders, the more interested I keep getting. My Sleep Issues Insomnia   I've had recurring insomnia for almost as long as I can remember, as far back as middle school. My insomnia is typically not being able to fall asleep with whatever I try to do to aid it. Trust me it is never a lack of trying, but once I hit over...
